{"id":10270,"date":"2023-02-14T13:41:55","date_gmt":"2023-02-14T13:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/?p=10270"},"modified":"2023-02-14T13:44:06","modified_gmt":"2023-02-14T13:44:06","slug":"two-greater-manchester-police-officers-banned-for-gross-misconduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/two-greater-manchester-police-officers-banned-for-gross-misconduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Greater Manchester Police officers banned for gross misconduct"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two former Trafford police officers have been banned from policing after disciplinary hearings held by Greater Manchester Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hearings stated that PCs Craig Grocott and Dharamdeep Singh had sent sexual and inappropriate messages and photographs to female colleagues on several occasions after being told to stop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grocott was found to be persistent and harassing in his messaging.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PC Singh had visited a woman&#8217;s home, pretending to be there for policing duties. He was found to breach policing codes for inappropriate behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singh also breached Covid-19 regulations, where he was found to attend several home addresses during the pandemic, without justification for policing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both cases officers were found to be in gross misconduct of their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resigned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Grocott left the force in October 2021 and later Singh resigned in December 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both officers would have been forced to leave if they had not resigned their positions prior to GMP disciplinary hearings this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detective Superintendent Steve Keeley, of GMP\u2019s anti-corruption unit, said: \u201cThe actions undertaken by these officers was deeply unacceptable and can only undermine confidence in policing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis shows the need to consistently root out this type of behaviour and misconduct, and ensure that the perpetrators are dismissed from the service and are barred from ever working in the police again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese cases relied on the courage of those reporting them and hopefully these outcomes give confidence that these matters will be treated with the gravity that they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two former Trafford police officers have been banned from policing after disciplinary hearings held by Greater Manchester Police.
