The walk is approximately 1.11km long, with rest stops along the way and dropped kerbs for wheelchair access.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In previous years, the city has seen thousands of women and supporters of women flood to Manchester city centre to share their passion for equality. This year, the event promises to be even bigger and better, with participants coming together under the theme of \u2018Embrace Equity\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Becky Chambers, lead member for women, expressed excitement about the event: \u201cWe\u2019re excited to be back on the streets of Manchester standing up for women\u2019s rights. This will be our sixth year of holding the Walk for Women and we\u2019d love to see as many people as possible come together to rise, roar, and represent women.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants are encouraged to bring fun, safe, noisy instruments to bang and clang as they walk through the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Sam Lynch highlighted the importance of International Women\u2019s Day in marking the achievements of women throughout history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0She said: \u201cIt also provides us with a unique opportunity to celebrate the brave women who have fought for us and who continue fighting against inequality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Large groups, businesses, and organisations are encouraged to get involved and register for an official place in the Walk for Women.
