href=\"https:\/\/turtledefibcabinets.co.uk\">Turtle Engineering<\/a>, the kit includes tourniquet material as well as wound seals, dressings and equipment for CPR (cardiopulmonary emergency aid, with the assistance of 999 operators, in any instance involving a major bleed while emergency services are on their way.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anti-violence charity support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The installation has been made possible by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mavuk.org\">Mothers Against Violence Charity<\/a> (MAV) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/bleed-cabinet-meros-world\">Mero\u2019s World.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div Now MAV serves to support local inner-city communities in tackling gun and knife crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mero\u2019s World was created by the family of 16-year-old Rhamero West who was killed in a knife crime incident in Old Trafford in 2021. His mother, Kelly Brown, has been campaigning for stricter knife laws and for more bleed kits ever since.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Weapon crime in Greater Manchester<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian Swanston of the MAV, said: \u201cWe have been concerned by the recent rise in knife crime and knife related incidents in the local area and nationally. We hope that the bleed control box (BCB) will encourage local people to ask questions and become more aware of the impact of knife crime on families.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;As someone who has lost a younger brother to weapon violence, I hope our work prevents other families from losing the life of a loved one.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Ian Swanston, MAV<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Between April 2022 and March 2023 Greater Manchester Police have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmp.police.uk\/news\/greater-manchester\/news\/news\/2023\/march\/over-3200-weapons-seized-as-greater-manchester-police-continues-to-ramp-up-response-to-knife-crime-and-serious-violence\/\">seized 3,265 weapons and knife crime has reduced by 3.8% on the previous year.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-wp-embed is-provider-flourish wp-block-embed-flourish\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n <iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" title=\"Interactive or visual content\" src=\"https:\/\/flo.uri.sh\/visualisation\/13797936\/embed#?secret=L8XoTzBCdk\" data-secret=\"L8XoTzBCdk\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" height=\"575\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Source: Office for National Statistics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\"><\/a>However, in the year ending September 2022 Greater Manchester still saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/peoplepopulationandcommunity\/crimeandjustice\/bulletins\/crimeinenglandandwales\/yearendingseptember2022#:~:text=Compared%20with%20the%20year%20ending%20September%202021%2C%20knife%20or%20sharp,remained%20similar%20with%203%2C447%20offences.\">3,447 knife or sharp instrument offences<\/a>, with a knife crime rate of 129 offences per 100,000 population. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These statistics mean, outside of London, Manchester has the highest knife crime rate in England and Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian continued: \u201cAs someone who has lost a younger brother to weapon violence, I hope our work prevents other families from losing the life of a loved one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are committed to ensuring there is a new BCB placed in the inner city and surrounding areas each year. We also hope to encourage people, young and old to be confident in using the BCB, should it ever be needed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are even more committed to preventing knife crime.
