After a tough football season, AFC Didsbury earns their reward by beating Romiley 2-0 in the final at Wythenshawe Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13 years after the club was founded in 2010, the club now has two teams, with over 50 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jac Evans, the team&#8217;s social secretary and match winner said: &#8220;The trophy is, of course, a great reward for a long season of football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;However, the club is about much more than winning trophies. It is about friendship, camaraderie, togetherness. Romiley applied a fair bit of pressure on Didsbury&#8217;s goal, but their defence held firm. After the referee rewarded Didsbury with two penalties, Evans dispatched them with confidence and efficiency, booting the ball twice into the same corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jac said, &#8220;I will never forget the feeling of jubilation and relief on hearing the final whistle. Having picked up the man of the match trophy, it was a great feeling to celebrate lifting the Cup with the team. Wanting to expand his social network in the city he believed joining a football team would be his best bet. Fast-forward three years, and he is still playing week-in-week-out with the club. He also acts as the team\u2019s Twitter admin \/ social secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jac said, &#8221; We are always on the lookout for new recruits, be they players that want to play completely on the weekend or would just like to have a social kick about at training on a Tuesday night. Details of our pre-season will be announced on all of our social media channels and all abilities are welcome.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We train and play our home games at Hough End. The Railway is also a friendly place for the team to relax and watch the Sunday football whilst enjoying the post-match refreshments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team also try to help out and support as many local communities as possible, having previously arranged collections from the squad for a local food bank and having sent volunteers from the squad to help out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jac said, &#8220;We will be undertaking more charitable initiatives this season.
