Credit: PA media.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Moss Side residents are facing problems with relations and trust between them and housing providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirza Asanga-Rae is an organiser for the union and spoke to The NQ about their plans to tackle the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She claimed that &#8220;absolutely nothing&#8221; is being done to enable affordable housing in Moss Side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her view, the council is &#8220;setting families up to potentially fail&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Greater Manchester Tenants Union<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The council provides residents with funding on the basis that their household income will increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirza believes this &#8220;is not a sure way to house or rehousing families as a solution&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this, GMTU are campaigning around no-fault evictions and rent increases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They plan to do this by holding landlords accountable and educating tenants around their housing rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GMTU hold &#8216;know your rights&#8217; sessions at the Millenium Powerhouse every second Sunday of the month  to help residents stand up for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2024\/04\/outside-powerhouse.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17554\" style=\"width:729px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2024\/04\/outside-powerhouse.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2024\/04\/outside-powerhouse-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2024\/04\/outside-powerhouse-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Outisde of the Millenium Powerhouse where they host &#8216;know your rights&#8217; sessions.
