A brand new 25-storey building block, One Park Place, is to be built on Cheetham Hill Road to help rejuvenate the<\/strong> area. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With plans approved, Cheetham Hill is going to host the new 25-storey apartment building development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new building building tower will be located on the corner of a brownfield plot towards the south of Cheetham Hill Road. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The south of Cheetham has been classed as a \u2018potential hotspot\u2019 and \u2018untapped area\u2019, according to the Benjamin Property Group (BPG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BPG has received planning permission for the development, which includes 154 affordable one and two-bed apartments. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although new developments will generate more housing, not everyone is thrilled with the news. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some residents have taken to social media to air their views. Sofia Muskeen on Facebook commented: \u201cA lot of these affordable housing schemes come with caveats that make them difficult to qualify.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Cheetham has been neglected for years’<\/h2>\nSofia Muskeen, local resident<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

“Many people that have gone for options such as shared ownership regret doing that and end up losing money in the long run.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel Bx commented: “This kind of thing just gentrifies the area and pushes us working-class people out.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I don\u2019t think the council or the developers have our best interests at heart. Ultimately these developments are about profit.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Gavin White, Manchester City Council’s executive member for housing and development, said: “We know that there is a large and growing demand for high quality, affordable housing in Manchester.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
