If we can prevent these, we can avoid a lot of suffering, which is better for you and your family.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even if you are already living with these conditions there is also plenty you can do to manage your own condition.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The campaign encourages patients to take control of their own health and wellbeing through self-treatment and healthy life choices.<\/p>\n<p>The Self Care Forum advocates small changes that deliver long-lasting improvement in patient\u2019s health, from getting more sleep and exercise to connecting with those around you.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Keeping as active as you can and eating a healthy diet are really important,\u2019\u2019 said local GP and chair of NHS Stockport CCG, Dr Cath Briggs.<br \/>\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We asked PAGB Members and staff to tell us their <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/selfcare?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#selfcare<\/a> secret &#8211; what&#8217;s yours? <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/selfcareweek?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#selfcareweek<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SelfCareForum?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@selfcareforum<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AngryWordBird?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AngryWordBird<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GSK?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GSK<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tevapharmeurope?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@tevapharmeurope<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UKBayer?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@UKBayer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hamellcomms?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@hamellcomms<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bYSikt6SLD\">pic.twitter.com\/bYSikt6SLD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\u2014 PAGB (@PAGBselfcare) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PAGBselfcare\/status\/1063365221593620481?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 16, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The campaign urges people to \u2018choose well\u2019, aiming to encourage patients to better utilise services such as their local pharmacy and, in turn, alleviate pressure on NHS staff and resources.<\/p>\n<p>Stockport Council are offering free short courses to give residents the knowledge and confidence to help themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Briggs said: &#8220;Expert Patient courses will give you the skills to manage your symptoms better and feel more in control of your life.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Wellbeing and self care services, including expert patients courses can be accessed by referral from your GP.
