The University of Manchester has released a new publication with input from academics in the hope of tackling gender inequality in the city.<\/p>\n

The publication called On Gender aims to what we need to know about tackling inequality through policy changes.<\/p>\n

It summarises the \u2018gender agenda\u2019 that needs attention and includes different topics such as age, disability, race and sexual violence.<\/p>\n

Professor of public policy, Francesca Gains, said: \u201cI would like to see all the male candidates as the mayoral elections come up to commit to having a gender balanced cabin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the policy makers want to achieve their goal of Greater Manchester being a better place to grow up, get on and grow old it is important to have a diversity of politicians around the table.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey need to reach out to communities of interest when looking for information about new policy development.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Gender is based on an academic paper Professor Francesca Gains brought together for the Greater Manchester Women’s Voices Task and Finish Group in June.<\/p>\n

The article discusses national and regional policy and contains information that can be used to inspire policy in Manchester and other city regions.<\/p>\n

Contributors include professor of education, Ruth Lupton, director of the Work and Equalities Institute, Professor Jill Rubery, the university\u2019s vice-president for research, Colette Fagan, and Professor Debora Price. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
