{"id":4355,"date":"2020-02-12T14:37:25","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T14:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/2020\/02\/12\/sixth-annual-nhs-unsung-hero-awards-being-held-recognise-backroom-healthcare-staff\/"},"modified":"2020-02-12T14:37:25","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T14:37:25","slug":"sixth-annual-nhs-unsung-hero-awards-being-held-recognise-backroom-healthcare-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/sixth-annual-nhs-unsung-hero-awards-being-held-recognise-backroom-healthcare-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Sixth annual NHS Unsung Hero Awards being held to recognise backroom healthcare staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sixth annual Unsung Hero Awards are being held at the Hilton Hotel this month to commemorate the work done by NHS non-medical and non-clinical staff and volunteers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These employees \u2013 such as admin and clerical staff \u2013 make up 50% of the NHS and rarely get recognition for the vital work they do within the health service.<\/p>\n<p>The awards night on 28 February will recognise and reward&nbsp;staff working in departments such as IT and digital, estates&nbsp;and ancillary, and corporate services.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two new categories have been added this year: Disability Learning Champion and the Leadership Award.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-4354\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_awardz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_awardz.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_awardz-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_awardz-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2020\/02\/thumbnail_awardz-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NHS staff have been asked to vote for their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unsungheroawards.com\/\">Unsung Hero<\/a> based on their &nbsp;personal skills, work ethic and drive for innovation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The communications team at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwas.nhs.uk\/\">North West ambulance service<\/a> in Manchester have been shortlisted for an award due to their ability to go above and beyond their role in using social media campaigns such as #Getbehind999.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This gathered pledges of support&nbsp;and allowed staff to see positive messages from the public when feeling under pressure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The team were praised by those nominating&nbsp;them for boosting staff morale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We&#8217;re back on your screens this week at 9pm on Thurs. He is the founder of FaceX, a new technology which can recognise and diagnose Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n<p>Jules Lockett, a &nbsp;practice &nbsp;learning &nbsp;manager &nbsp;and LGBT Network&nbsp;co-chair control services for the London Ambulance Service, is one of the awards judges.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cThe nominations have left me feeling inspired, learning about the improved working practices that has contributed to staff\u2019s working environment. True NHS heroes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The awards ceremony is open to the public and will include a three-course meal, live entertainment and raffle.
