A group of Levenshulme residents are rallying round to help the most vulnerable people in their community during lockdown.<\/p>\n

Levenshulme Inspire is currently running a fundraiser that will enable them to continue delivering hot meals and shopping to vulnerable people.<\/p>\n

Levenshulme has roughly 1,262 residents aged over 70 (the age group identified as most at risk) according to the most recent census.<\/p>\n

The group says this means that most residents in Levenshulme will have at least one person living near them who needs assistance during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

During the pandemic, Levenshulme Inspire<\/a> has been delivering more than 300 hot meals a week to elderly and vulnerable people.<\/p>\n

On top of this they have been delivering weekly groceries to those who are part of the bread and butter project and supporting up to 150 people on a telephone tree.<\/p>\n

The group has a target <\/a>of \u00a310,000 and have so far raised more than half the money needed.<\/p>\n

There is also a Levy Corona Helpers<\/a> page on Facebook where members offer help and you may request assistance if you need it.<\/p>\n

Dedicated Inspire volunteer Dorothy Brown, who has provided support to the centre for a number of years, has been fundraising for the Meal Buddies on Wheels project by walking 100 laps of her own back garden. So far she has raised <\/a>more than \u00a31,440.<\/p>\n

The project providing Emergency food provision and distribution of approximately 500 healthy take away meals for older people and vulnerable people per week. Meals are delivered by volunteers across Levenshulme, Gorton, Longsight and Burnage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
