\u00a322m financial support package are predicted to affect the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Andy Burnham\u2019s fight to for the city to remain in tier two, Boris Johnson announced that Manchester would move&nbsp;into tier three restrictions&nbsp;on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The tighter restrictions were imposed after talks between the Prime Minister and Manchester\u2019s local leaders failed to reach an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor raised concerns over a possible mental health crisis, because of rigorous restrictions and a tight \u00a322m financial support package, which he said would not be sufficient to support the most vulnerable through the winter.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image file-default media-element\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Andy Burnham, Mayor of more than controlling the virus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we trap people in punishing lockdowns during winter, we will have a mental health crisis on top of a pandemic to deal with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s leaders have expressed disgust after receiving a \u00a322m financial support package for the city\u2019s \u00a32.8m people, equivalent to&nbsp;\u00a38 per person.<\/p>\n<p>Growing concerns point to a mental health crisis as many more could lose their jobs, shelter and won\u2019t be able to see their loved ones during winter.<\/p>\n<p>Tier three&nbsp;lockdown will mean the closure of bars and pubs which don\u2019t serve meals, no mixing between households indoors or outdoors, and the rule of six in outdoor spaces.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image file-default media-element\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-delta=\"2\" data-fid=\"6415\" data-media-element=\"1\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/2020\/10\/gmmh_foundation.jpg\" title=\"Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Helpline\" width=\"600\"><figcaption>Mental health support is available during the pandemic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The first coronavirus lockdown witnessed a rise in mental health issues with the demand for mental health support double.<\/p>\n<p>Health officials are worried&nbsp;about&nbsp;what will happen&nbsp;during a second lockdown and if&nbsp;there are enough resources and strategies in place to deal with a crisis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmmh.nhs.uk\/\">Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation<\/a> reported that its helpline received 2,168 calls in July, compared with 1,187 in April.<\/p>\n<p>Young people and BAME groups are more likely to experience&nbsp;poor mental health during lockdown than other groups.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mind.org.uk\/media-a\/5929\/the-mental-health-emergency_a4_final.pdf\">half of&nbsp;adults (60%)&nbsp;and over two thirds of young people (68%)<\/a> have said their mental health got worse during lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>A survey of more than 14k&nbsp;adults by the mental health charity <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mind.org.uk\/news-campaigns\/news\/existing-inequalities-have-made-mental-health-of-bame-groups-worse-during-pandemic-says-mind\/\">Mind<\/a>, found that &#8216;systemic racism&#8217; accounts for the greater mental health deterioration experienced by BAME groups during the coronavirus pandemic, with inequalities in healthcare, employment, finances and housing.<\/p>\n<p>More than 60% of BAME people&nbsp;reported employment worries have negatively impacted their mental health during the pandemic, in comparison to 51% of white
