Residents are calling on the police to put a stop to illegal firework displays happening in Hulme Park for the second week in a row. <\/p>\n

Category two and three fireworks \u2013 illegal in public places unless used by licensed professionals<\/a> \u2013 have been being set off from Hulme Park \u2018most nights\u2019 for the last two weeks.<\/p>\n

The displays have been carrying on into the early hours and causing upset to the local community. <\/p>\n

Some residents have taken to Twitter to express their frustration about the fireworks causing disruption and upset to young children and pets.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d like to say a massive curse word at whoever is letting off fireworks in \/ around Hulme park right now. Can we please just ban them already? If they make me jump with fright, how must our little ones and pets feel, who have no understanding of these noises? @MCCHulme<\/a><\/p>\n

Resident Naomi Gwen, 22, said: \u201cMost nights for the last couple of weeks there has been fireworks being set off in the park and it is becoming a real issue for the local community. <\/p>\n

\u201cI have two dogs who get very stressed when they hear loud noises and the displays are lasting after midnight and into the early hours. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt isn\u2019t fair on us residents to have to listen to fireworks going off all night and having the dogs bark through the night as they\u2019re stressed makes things even worse.<\/p>\n

\u201cFireworks are clearly very easy to get a hold of these days and they should not be.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are furious as the police don\u2019t seem to be doing anything about this \u2013 we understand they have bigger issues to deal with, but we just wish they could send somebody to patrol the park in the evening to put an end to this issue.\u201d <\/p>\n

 A police spokesperson said: \u201cIf children are setting off fireworks in your area, our first advice is to ask them politely to stop \u2013 it\u2019s possible they\u2019re unaware that they are breaking the law. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf people know their parents, they could perhaps ask them to intervene. Failing that, you should contact us and log an official report.\u201d<\/p>\n
