Police say that the stabbing of 16-year-old boy in the Arndale Centre was ‘an isolated incident’.<\/p>\n
The police were called to the incident at around 7.20pm on Friday, which occurred in the Next store in the Arndale Centre.<\/p>\n
Investigations into the incident discovered that there had been an altercation between two groups of teenagers, with one 16-year-old boy stabbed.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to the scene and the boy was taken to hospital, where he was treated for injuries described as \u201cneither life-changing or threatening\u201d.<\/p>\n
A couple of other teenagers were also injured and taken to hospital, though these were reported to be minor, and they have since been discharged from the hospital.<\/p>\n
The group responsible for the attack left the scene before the police had arrived.<\/p>\n
Inspector Glen Rees, of GMP, said the stabbing was an \u201cisolated incident\u201d and not indicative of a larger issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not believe there to be any ongoing wider threat to the general public,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Inspector Rees added: \u201cViolence such as this will not be tolerated and a full investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances and identify those involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
No one was arrested and enquiries are still ongoing. Police have asked anyone with knowledge or footage of the incident to come forward.<\/p>\n
