Image courtesy of Max Trax<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He enjoyed playing outdoors and had an obsession with &#8220;all things with wheels&#8221;, say his parents.<\/p>\n<p>Following support from the local community after Max\u2019s death, the family decided to put&nbsp; donations from his funeral back into the community and the Max Trax project was born.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2017 the project has secured \u00a320,000 from the local community and even got the support of TeamGB who took time out of their busy schedule to raise an incredible \u00a33,200 for the cycle track a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"555\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMaxTraxOpenshaw%2Fposts%2F474061507765082&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" width=\"400\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kerrie Rimmer, mum to Max and leader of Max Trax, said:&nbsp;\u201cThe idea of the track didn\u2019t come about until the end of 2018. So, considering we\u2019ve spent the last two years with lockdown and restrictions the project has moved at a very fast pace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone in the community took it upon themselves to raise funds or donate. A lot of people who help out didn\u2019t meet Max.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They all fell in love with him and desperately want this project&nbsp;to happen as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that organisations like Travis Perkins and even TeamGB have got involved totally blows my mind. These people had never met me before,&nbsp;it\u2019s really heart touching.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, more money is needed. The aim of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crowdfunder.co.uk\/p\/maxtraxstepup\">Crowdfunder <\/a>is to create the additional funding required to finalise the cycle track and give Delamere Park a community cycle hub.<\/p>\n<p>Kerrie said: \u201cWe just need another 8k to hit 80k. Along with previous money raised we will have hit 100k so to get half way in three&nbsp;short months is unbelievable. I\u2019m so proud of everyone\u2019s help.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Everyone involved and myself and my family are blown away beyond words<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The proposed plans for the cycle track include features that will cater to all ages and abilities such as a learn to ride area, a mini roadway to allow understanding of road networks, a beginning and intermediate\/advanced pump track, and connection of the area to existing trails in the park.<\/p>\n<p>Max Trax would also be keen to see features such as a bike shop, caf\u00e9 and allotments added to the project.<\/p>\n<p>Kerrie added: \u201cEveryone says how much the park is wasted.
