{"id":7564,"date":"2022-10-27T09:15:08","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T08:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/?p=7564"},"modified":"2022-10-30T17:36:04","modified_gmt":"2022-10-30T17:36:04","slug":"black-history-month-celebrated-through-creativity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/black-history-month-celebrated-through-creativity\/","title":{"rendered":"Black history month celebrated through creativity at central library event"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Black creativity celebratory evening in Manchester Central Library<\/li><li>Fashion show, art exhibition, word performance<\/li><li>Brought by Bob Expo, Cultureville and Business IP Greater Manchester<\/li><li>Carole Whitehead and DJ Kemoy Walker to hosts the event<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Three Mancunian companies are joining forces to host an evening promoting black creativity and Black History Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shakespeare Hall in Manchester central library will be hosting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/black-creative-soiree-tickets-427987892307\">Black creative soir\u00e9e<\/a> brought to the city by <a href=\"https:\/\/bobexpo.co.uk\">Bob Expo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cultureville.co.uk\">Cultureville<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bipcgm.org\">Business and IP Centre Greater Manchester<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Black creative soir\u00e9e will be held on Friday (28 October) and feature a fashion show, art exhibition, performances, land ive music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is being held to highlight black designers, artists, poets and musicians\u2019 craftsmanship and talent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will be animated by the women right\u2019s activist and founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thezebratribe.co.uk\">Zebra Partnership<\/a> agency helping company to bring their project to life&nbsp;<strong>Carol-Ann Whitehead<\/strong>, along with&nbsp;<strong>DJ Kemoy Walker<\/strong>, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/kysoclub.co.uk\">KYSO<\/a>, a not-for-profit organisation delivering drama and music workshops to young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cultureville founders Adeola Adelakun and Ronke Jane Adelakun said: \u201cWe\u2019re bringing together artists musicians, spoken words artists and fashion brands and we\u2019re putting them on a platform not just ours but other black creatives because we want to showcase the amount of creativity we have in the black community in Manchester and that is the black creative soir\u00e9e.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bobexpo held a previous event this summer when it curated more than 100 businesses and more than 1,000 people came to support the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets are available from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/black-creative-soiree-tickets-427987892307?utm-campaign=social&amp;utm-content=attendeeshare&amp;utm-medium=discovery&amp;utm-term=listing&amp;utm-source=cp&amp;aff=escb\">Evenbrite<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Black creativity celebratory evening in Manchester Central Library Fashion show, art exhibition, word performance Brought by Bob Expo, Cultureville and Business IP Greater Manchester Carole&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1603,"featured_media":7570,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_uf_show_specific_survey":0,"_uf_disable_surveys":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4972],"tags":[541,1079,5015,4144,68,7,67,2207],"class_list":["post-7564","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-art","tag-black-history-month","tag-black-owned-businesses","tag-creativity","tag-fashion","tag-manchester","tag-music","tag-performance"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
