{"id":8596,"date":"2022-12-06T11:33:26","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T11:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/?p=8596"},"modified":"2022-12-21T09:42:46","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T09:42:46","slug":"manchester-partnership-relaunches-with-hopes-to-end-homelessness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/satellite.mmu.ac.uk\/northernquota-old\/manchester-partnership-relaunches-with-hopes-to-end-homelessness\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Manchester partnership relaunches with hopes to end homelessness\u00a0<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manchester Homelessness Partnership (MHP) has relaunched with new strategies to eradicate homelessness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many people are increasingly at risk of becoming homeless due to Britain\u2019s cost of living crisis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The primary objectives of the partnership focus on locating more affordable homes, minimising the usage of temporary accommodation, and avoiding homelessness in the first place<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Through council initiatives, rough Sleeping in Greater Manchester was reduced<a href=\"https:\/\/i-sphere.site.hw.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/437\/sites\/15\/2022\/03\/Executive-Summary-Ending-Street-Homelessness-in-Vanguard-Cities.pdf\"> by over 50% by the end of the pandemic,<\/a> and now they seek to reduce homelessness for the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mhp.org.uk\/\">Manchester Homelessness Partnership<\/a>&nbsp;(MHP) was set up to tackle the growing problem of homelessness in the city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today the MHP&#8217;s main challenges are the growing number of people who present as homeless and the increasing use of temporary housing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partnership is made up of a network of organisations, companies, and campaigners who work with individuals who have been homeless and who share their knowledge to collaborate on city-wide solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key aim of MHP&nbsp;is locating more reasonably priced housing, reducing the use of temporary housing, and preventing homelessness from happening in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More people are being exposed to the risk of homelessness because of the&nbsp;cost of living crisis, says MHP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Joanna Midgley, deputy leader of the council, said: &#8220;Our one city approach under the umbrella of the MHP to tackling homelessness means that we have a real chance to make a marked difference to our residents at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul Newcombe,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boothcentre.org.uk\/\">Booth Centre<\/a>&nbsp;chief executive said: &#8220;With the cost-of-living crisis, there has never been a more crucial time for us to come together to redouble our efforts in making homelessness a thing of the past in Manchester.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Thank you so much to all of our organisers, partners,  volunteers, key speakers and attendees for making this afternoon&#39;s relaunch such a success!  <br><br>Let\u2019s work together to make homelessness in Greater Manchester rare, brief and one-off<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/EndHomelessnessGM?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#EndHomelessnessGM<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MHPRelaunch?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MHPRelaunch<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Manchester Homelessness Partnership (@McrHomelessness) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/McrHomelessness\/status\/1579496619049115649?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 10, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Through council initiatives, rough Sleeping in Greater Manchester was reduced by over 50% by the end of the pandemic, and now they seek to reduce&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1601,"featured_media":1499,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_uf_show_specific_survey":0,"_uf_disable_surveys":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4972],"tags":[4906,390,304,3522],"class_list":["post-8596","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-cost-of-living-crisis","tag-homeless","tag-homelessness","tag-manchester-housing-crisis"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
