The organisation that I am working for is the Lesbian and Gay Foundation. I am using the Crime Survey of England and Wales to look at the experiences and perceptions of the LGB community in relation to crime. I think Q-Step Dissertations are an amazing opportunity, you get to get out there into the world of work and gain some real life experience, you get to meet some great people and you also get to know that you are completing research that matters, not just doing a piece of work that no one will ever look at again. I would thoroughly recommend Q-Step Dissertations to anyone who asks, along with the great experience you gain, you have two dissertation supervisors which means a lot of support for when you need it! Alongside my dissertation I am also a Data Buddy which is again a great way to gain some experience and earn a bit of money while you do it! I work for Q-Step being a data buddy where people come for numerical help. It has been a marvellous opportunity to learn new skills such as teamwork and has built my confidence in dealing with diverse members of society who come along for help. It has been an excellent addition towards my personal development aiding in my aspiration in becoming a mathematics teacher in my future career.
