The Centre puts local enterprise at the forefront of the technology with our unique programme of workshops and access to specialist help and facilities. We develop business understanding and help SMEs take advantage of the R&D and commercial opportunities of hydrogen and fuel cell technology by developing new products or services for their business. By working together with Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre, businesses are offered reduced risk and an accelerated route to market.

How we work with industry

Hydrogen and fuel cell technology has the potential to revolutionise vast swathes of industry. Companies in many, diverse sectors including the heat, power and transport industries are now becoming very interested in hydrogen fuel cell technology.

The Centre works with SMEs, policymakers and industry to understand the potential of the technology for different industry sectors and put in place the strategies and policies that will support the market.

The team at Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre includes experienced electrochemists and engineers with backgrounds as diverse as solid-state chemistry, materials science, electrocatalysis, fundamental electrochemistry, nanoscience and surface engineering.

We also work closely with experienced business-focused experts who coordinate with local businesses in the Greater Manchester area to promote hydrogen technologies through a dedicated programme of workshops.
