Business School, Manchester Campus

Justyna leads and participates in a number of projects at Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre, including the nano-engineering of vertically aligned graphene, the development of barrier coatings on bipolar plates, the fabrication of ceramic anode material for solid oxide fuel cells, and the development of non-platinum catalyst layers in proton-exchange membrane fuel cells.

Justyna completed her PhD on diffusion in low emissivity coatings in the Surface Engineering Group at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2012. She spent three years at the University of Manchester working in a prestigious materials characterisation group under the supervision of Prof Ping Xiao and Prof Philip J. Withers.
Justyna has expert knowledge in materials characterisation and experience of designing and producing functional coatings via magnetron sputtering processes. Projects she has worked on include:
High temperature resistant ceramic coatings and composites for power generation and aero engine applications
Functional conductive thin films that find application in the automotive industry and energy efficient large area glazing
Barrier coatings for accident tolerant fuels for nuclear applications.
Other than materials science and renewable energy, Justyna’s interests include traveling, reading, music, theatre and a good film.
